One of the most pressing issues of the coming century is protecting a finite supply of fresh water. Today, over seven billion people draw on the only reserve the planet has ever had; by 2025, about eight billion people will be competing for the same resource.
Susan Leal (susan.leal@aecom.com), a senior vice president with AECOM and author of “Running out of Water: The Looming Crisis and Solutions to Conserve Our Most Precious Resource,” is a former general manager of the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission. She recently discussed the global challenges of managing water supply on Bloomberg Radio with Arthur Levitt.
